1. 2 weeks before: buy a roaming eSIM (check your phone supports it); book trains and must-see tickets.
2. 1 week before: install Alipay and link your card; install Amap, DiDi, WeChat; download offline Chinese in Google Translate.
3. The day before: install the eSIM but don’t switch it on; save your hotel address in Chinese.
4. When you land: turn on the eSIM and data roaming.
